Frequently Asked Questions

If your question isn't answered here, please feel welcome to get in touch.
Reaching out can feel like a big step and I aim to make the process as straightforward as possible.

Getting started

  • No. You do not need a referral to book an appointment.

If you would like to claim a Medicare rebate, you will need a Mental Health Treatment Plan and referral from your GP.

  • Appointments can be made through the online booking system or by contacting the practice directly.

  • Please view the online booking calendar for current availability.

  • The first session is a chance to talk about what has brought you to therapy, what is happening for you at the moment, and what support you are looking for.

We may also discuss your history, current symptoms, goals, and what approach may be most helpful. There is no pressure to share everything at once.

Where another service is likely to be more appropriate, I encourage clients to seek more specialised support.

My therapeutic approach

  • I draw on evidence-based approaches including:

    • EMDR

    • ACT

    • DBT

    • CBT

My work is also trauma-informed, which means I prioritise safety, collaboration, and pacing therapy in a way that supports regulation and meaningful change.

  • Yes. Trauma-informed therapy recognises the impact trauma can have on thoughts, emotions, relationships, and the body.

My approach focuses on creating a safe, respectful, and collaborative space where clients can build understanding, emotional regulation, and practical tools for recovery.

  • Yes, where clinically appropriate.

EMDR is an evidence-based therapy that can help people process traumatic or distressing experiences so they feel less overwhelming and less “stuck.”

  • This varies from person to person.

Some clients come for short-term support around a specific issue, while others find longer-term work helpful for trauma, longstanding patterns, or more complex difficulties.

  • This depends on your goals and current needs.

Some people begin with weekly or fortnightly sessions, then space appointments out over time.

Helpful information

  • Standard appointments are generally 50 minutes, unless otherwise arranged.

  • Yes, appointments are available in person and via telehealth, depending on suitability and availability.

  • Sessions are $200 per 50-minute appointment.

If you are eligible for a Medicare rebate with a Mental Health Treatment Plan, the current rebate is $87.25.

  • Yes, if you have a Mental Health Treatment Plan and referral from your GP.

Please note that the Medicare rebate does not usually cover the full session fee, so there is typically an out-of-pocket cost.

  • Please get in touch to discuss referral pathways, funding arrangements, and whether the service is the right fit for your needs.

  • Yes. What you discuss in therapy is kept confidential, with some legal and ethical exceptions.

These may include situations involving serious risk of harm, concerns for a child’s safety, or where records are required by law. Confidentiality and its limits will be discussed with you at the beginning of therapy.

  • Contact between sessions is generally limited to practical matters such as appointment changes or administration.

If you need urgent support between sessions, please contact your GP, local mental health crisis team, or emergency services.

  • This practice is not a crisis service.

If you are in immediate danger or need urgent support, please call 000, attend your nearest Emergency Department, contact your local mental health crisis team, or call Lifeline on 13 11 14.

  • A good therapeutic relationship is important.

Therapy is often most effective when you feel safe, understood, and comfortable with the approach. The first session can be a helpful way to get a sense of whether the fit feels right for you.
